Arrest Made in Stabbing Death of Dutch Fork Student

An arrest has been made in the fatal stabbing of a Dutch Fork High School student last night following a basketball game with Lexington High School.

Police say 18-year-old Kierin Dennis of Lexington is charged with murder and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Investigators say about 10 o'clock last night, Dennis had an argument with 17-year-old DaVon Capers at the Cook Out restaurant in Lexington, it escalated into a fight and Capers was stabbed.

He was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

Police say Dennis was arrested after investigators talked with witnesses at the restaurant.

Lexington Police Lieutenant Matt Davis says it appears the incident stemmed from the tension-filled basketball game between the Silver Foxes and the Wildcats, which Dutch Fork won 50-to-45 at Lexington High.

Lexington School District One says Lexington High has a “larger-than-normal police presence” today as a precaution, and grief counseling is being provided to students and staff at both schools.
