Fort Jackson Losing 92 Jobs in Recruiting Move

FORT JACKSON, S.C.  (AP/WVOC) - More details on the impact of moving the Army's Recruiting and Retention School from Fort Jackson to Fort Knox...

The Columbia base is losing 92 jobs to Kentucky.

Fort Jackson spokesman Patrick Jones says there are 67 military and 25 civilian positions involved at school, which is moving by October 1st.

The Army announced the move earlier this week, saying it will better align the school with its headquarters, the U.S. Army Recruiting Command.

Military officials say the change will enhance the training of recruiters and better support the development of recruiting doctrine and curriculum.

The relocation is also projected to save the Army $138-million over a 10-year period.
