Republican Gov. Nikki Haley leads Democratic state Sen. Vincent Sheheen by nine percentage points in their 2014 governor’s race, according to a survey released today from a Republican pollster.
But Haley’s favorability rating stood at 42 percent, according to Harper Polling, which conducted the poll for the blog Conservative Intelligence Briefing.
That’s been her average favorability in three polls taken since December by Winthrop University and Public Policy Polling. She received a 43 percent unfavorability rating.
A poll conducted for the Democratic Governors Association last week had Haley leading Sheheen 44 percent to 40 percent. But the poll had the race in a statistical tie taking into account the margin of error of plus or minus 3.53 percent.
