Graham Says Immigration Reform Needed

COLUMBIA, S.C.  (AP/SCRN/WVOC) - After soundly defeating six Republican challengers, U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham says he will try to push the GOP to solve hard problems like immigration.

Graham says it would be a mistake to scuttle reform efforts after the stunning upset of House Majority Leader Eric Cantor in Virginia, whose little-known TEA-party challenger won by double digits, largely over the immigration issue.

Graham says he issue needs a revived approach – and fixing.

“I think as long as our borders are broken...we have 11-million illegal immigrants and they're coming over by the thousands...for it to be dead is a sad day for America,” he says.

The senator has been criticized for working with Democrats on the issue, but says the primary shows voters believe he can be conservative while at least trying to solve problems.
