Local Races Occupy Voters in Some Counties

There were several “local” races of interest on Tuesday's primary election ballots.

Richland County Treasurer David Adams saw victory in his Democratic primary.

Kershaw County Sheriff Jim Matthews won his Republican primary and thus his re-election.

Also in Kershaw County, Jill Catoe took the GOP race for county treasurer and Republican County Councilman Tom Gardner will go on to face Democrat Thomas Gordon in November.

Speaking of county council races, challenger Larry Brigham defeated incumbent Lexington County Councilman Frank Townsend, and Councilman Bill Banning ends up in a runoff with challenger Ned Tolar.

Billy Richardson wins a three-way Democratic race for Clarendon County Council.

And in the Sixth Circuit Solicitor's race, affecting Fairfield County, Randy Newman takes a GOP win and will next face Democrat William Frick.
