Richland County authorities say they've made contact with a man reported missing last week and he's OK.
26-year-old Mark Barnes phoned his fiancee Thursday and said he and his 10-month-old son were on the way home, but when the woman arrived at their Hopkins residence about an hour later, the two were not there.
There was no response to attempts to reach Barnes by phone calls and texts, and that heightened concerns because he suffers from a serious medical condition.
Then the boy was returned to the woman by a family friend after Barnes was reported missing.
And the Sheriff's Department was able to get in touch with Barnes today.
Investigators would not say where he is, but he told them he is safe and where he wants to be.
