The Red Cross is operating seven shelters in five counties to provide assistance during the cold spell.
Two of those are in the Midlands.
There's one in Orangeburg at the Cornerstone Community Church on Chestnut Street.
And in St. Matthews, the location is the Calhoun Convalescence Center on Dantzler Street.
The Red Cross says those shelters will be open as long as needed.
There's a free Shelter Finder App you can download, available on the Apple iTunes or Google Play stores.
The Red Cross also suggests downloading the free Red Cross First Aid App for handy, expert advice on what to do in case of an emergency.

Meanwhile, the City of Columbia continues to operate two “warming stations” around the clock to provide a comfortable environment for individuals or families that may need access to additional heating sources during the freezing temperatures or because of a power loss in their home.
Those are located at Hyatt Park on Jackson Avenue and at Martin Luther King Jr. Park on Greene Street, and plans are for them to remain open until noon on Thursday.
