COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP/SCRN/WVOC) - The newest figures show an old story when it comes to ranking states according to violence against women.
South Carolina again ranks worst in the nation in the number of women murdered by men.
The Violence Policy Center says in 2011, 61 women in our state were killed by men.
Alaska had the second-highest rate and Oklahoma the third-highest.
The Palmetto State has ranked among the 10 worst states every year for the past 15 years. The state ranked second last year. It's the third time the state has held the top spot.
The annual report is released to coincide with Domestic Violence Awareness Month in October.
