Skeletal Remains in Horry County Are Man's

Officials in Horry County say skeletal remains found in Myrtle Beach last weekend are those of a man.

An analysis by an anthropologist concludes the bones are those of a male believed to be at least 20 years old.  And it appears the remains had been there for several years.

A search team looking for Heather Elvis came across a skull and bones in a wooded area on Saturday.  The 20-year-old Elvis has been missing since December 18th.

A search has also been underway recently for a second woman missing from Myrtle Beach, 24-year-old Jamie Cross, who hasn't been seen since December 23rd.

It was also thought the discovery might be connected with 17-year-old Brittanee Drexel, a 17-year-old New York girl who disappeared in 2009 while vacationing in Myrtle Beach.

Meanwhile, more skeletal remains were found on New Year's Day a short distance from the first bones discovered, but authorities think those might have belonged to the same person.

That's being checked out while officials await DNA test results on the initial remains, which could help link them to a specific missing persons case.
