SRO Dies after Collapse While Directing School Traffic

A Kershaw County sheriff's deputy has died after suffering a heart attack while directing traffic at a school.

Sheriff Jim Matthews says 50-year-old School Resource Officer Rob Evans died early Wednesday morning at a hospital.

Evans had been directing traffic Tuesday at Wateree Elementary when he had the heart attack.

The sheriff says Evans fell and hit his head.
