Suspect Sketch Released in Fatal Shooting at Bar

Authorities have released a sketch of the unidentified suspect who fatally shot a Columbia man Sunday morning outside a bar in the St. Andrews community as he was trying to help settle a dispute involving several people.

A witness helped a forensic artist with the State Law Enforcement Division prepare the sketch of the man the witness says shot 31-year-old Brandon Ratliff of Columbia.

Lexington County Sheriff's Major John Allard says it happened outside the Cockpit Bar & Grill on Berryhill Road.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the nature of the dispute that Ratliff was trying to mediate when Ratliff was shot once in his upper torso with a firearm,” Allard says.

“After he was fatally shot, Ratliff was transported in a privately owned motor vehicle to Lexington Medical Center, where Ratliff was pronounced dead.”

Allard says the sheriff's department is asking anyone with information on the incident or the suspect to contact the department or Crimestoppers.
