Two Arrested in Home Invasion

Two suspects have been arrested in a home invasion in Forest Acres last week during which another suspect was killed.

25-year-old Ellison Hudson and 23-year-old Derrid Leaphart, both of Columbia, face charges ranging from attempted murder to first-degree burglary.

Police say Hudson and Leaphart were among four men who entered the home in the 3500 block of Linbrook Drive on January 20th, fired shots into the air and demanded money.

Another suspect, Deshawn Patterson, was surprised at the rear of the house by one of the residents, there was a gunfight, and Patterson was killed.

Forest Acres Police Chief Gene Sealy tells WVOC, “Through our investigation it appears that the home invasion was not a random act, but was targeted toward drug activity at that address.”

Sealy says police are working on identifying the fourth suspect.
