A Lexington woman has been arrested on charges of unlawfully possessing video gambling devices.
Narcotics investigators with the Lexington County Sheriff's Department and State Law Enforcement Division say they seized two table-top gambling devices on January 16th at the Horseshoe Tavern on Emanuel Church Road near West Columbia.
Sheriff's Major John Allard says the next day, a county magistrate ruled the devices are illegal.
Allard says the tavern's owner, 46-year-old Deborah Truett, turned herself in after arrest warrants were issued.
“Truett told her employees to pay cash to customers who won games playing one table-top Game Gallery III video gambling device and one table-top CA video gambling device,” Allard says.
“The devices were equipped with remote systems that are controlled by key fobs, which Truett possessed, that could alter the gaming board on each device from an illegal gambling game to a legal game.”
Allard says narcotics agents also confiscated $938 in cash.
